Probably no advance in medicine has had
more of
an impact than the development of laser surgery. Lasers used for
skin ablation work by emitting a powerful beam of light which
evaporates the outer layers of the
skin. As new living cells
replace layers of
dead skin cells, the skin tightens and
grows
back smoother with fewer wrinkles.
Lasers range from in-office procedures to requiring general
anesthesia for CO2, full face resurfacing. Lasers are effective
for treating sun-damaged skin, skin laxity, mild acne scarring,
age spots, skin discolorations, and many facial scars and
wrinkles.
Other conditions that respond well to laser surgery include
treating spider vein, hair removal, and tattoo removal. Recovery
time varies again from same-day treatments to two to three weeks
for complete recovery. |
