WHAT CAN CHEMICAL PEELS TREAT?
Our most commonly used light to medium depth peeling agents are used to exfoliate the skin's top layers and reveal softer healthier skin below, this includes treating sun damage, congested pores, un-even pigmentation, softening fine lines, reducing acne breakouts, and boosting collagen production. Chosen by Dr. Yannis and his clinical team our peeling agents include variable strengths and blends of, fruit acids, lactic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, resorcinol, hydroquinone, and kojic acid. Deeper peels may include TCA (trichloroacetic acid).
WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL TREATMENT LIKE?
Dr. Yannis and his clinical estheticians offer three main types of chemical peels: Light, Medium, and Medium-Deep. Light and Medium peels are typically performed by our medical estheticians or Dr. Yannis in our office with no sedation or anesthetic.
LIGHT depth peels remove fewer layers, cause little to no discomfort during your treatment, revealing softer, luminous looking skin and allow you to return to your normal activities quickly, resulting in no downtime. Most light depth peels require a series of treatments, depending on your specific concernes.
MEDIUM depth peels remove more layers of skin, providing more noticeable results and improvements in 1-2 treatments, depending on your specific skin condition. Medium depth peels cause moderate discomfort or stinging during your treatment, and may cause redness, irritation, and mild swelling for up to three days after your treatment. Most medium depth peels produce a noticible "slough off" of dead skin between days 2 and 4 after your treatment. Follow-up visits may be required to monitor your progress and ensure optimal results.
MEDIUM-DEEP peels are perfomed only by Dr. Yannis, they produce more dramatic results and improvements, and can treat heavier lines, moderate pigmentation, as well as stimulate collogen deposition and collogen contraction during the recovery process. Medium-Deep peels may require oral sedation, and cause definate discomfort during the treatment. Typically, redness, irritation, swelling and "sloughing off" of dead skin can occur up to 10 days during recovery. Follow-up visits are required to monitor your progress during the healing process.
