At Evans Eye Care in Palm Desert, CA, as well as The Kohana Wellness Center in San Luis Obispo, CA, Dr. Rex Yannis offers five state of the art laser treatments.  Dr. Yannis has over twenty years of laser experience.  Starting with Ophthalmic lasers and then progressing to cosmetic lasers as technology advanced, Dr Yannis began CO2 laser resurfacing in 1994.  The technology has changed over the years but the goal is always to do what is best for each patient.  The following laser treatments are offered at our office:

 

Laser resurfacing with CO2 laser and Pixel CO2

CO2 laser treatments are the gold standard of skin rejuvenation for sun damaged and aged skin.  Standard CO2 laser treatments are very good for wrinkled and loose skin.  The results can be dramatic but the recovery time is longer.  It can be 10-14 days before makeup can be worn in public.  The skin can be pink for 3-4 months.  It can be done along with other facial cosmetic procedures.  CO2 laser is also used for Blepharoplasty (eyelid) surgery

Pixel CO2 or Fractional CO2  is used for milder wrinkles.  It has a shorter recovery time, and usually requires 2 or 3 treatments.  It is  usually 4-5 days before patients can wear makeup.  The skin redness usually lasts 2-4 weeks.  It can be used on the neck to tighten the skin with minimal risk of scarring.   It also is performed with other facial cosmetic procedures.

Laser Liposuction

Smart Liposuction uses laser energy to break down fat and heat tissue for improved skin contraction.  Dr. Yannis uses the SmartLipo MPX with two different wavelengths for improved results.  This treatments improves the recovery with decreased bruising and less discomfort.

Erbium Laser resurfacing

Erbium laser is used for mild wrinkles and to remove skin lesions.  It ablates the very well.  It does not contract the ckin as much as CO2 laser.  Therefore it is best used to shave the skin sown and then use CO2 for improved contraction.   Healing time for it varies from 5-8 days, depending on the treatment.

Alexandrite 755nm Laser Hair removal

This laser works very wellfor hair removal on lighter skin types.  It can also can be used for vascular treatments.  Hair removal is better termed reduction.  The darker hair goes away, but there will be some light fine hair that remains.  Hair removal  treatments require several treatments, with more hair reduction with each successive treatment.  The best candidates for hair removal have dark hair with lighter skin.

 Erbium/YAG Vascular Laser treatment

This laser is used for vascular lesions, acne treatments and mild skin rejuvenation.  It can be used on the face and some superficial leg veins.  There is no down time with these treatments, but patients may need to wear compression hose and stay away from sun exposure for sever weeks after treatment.
